LINZ publishes 1 m LiDAR elevation data for most of New Zealand, but using it normally means downloading tiles and opening them in GIS software. NZ Elevation Tools does that processing behind the scenes, so anyone can get what they need in a few seconds.
You can click anywhere in the country for the ground elevation, draw a route and get its elevation profile, or draw a box and download contour lines at any interval from 0.5 to 50 metres as GeoJSON, DXF or PDF. The same area can be exported as an STL or OBJ mesh for 3D printing.
The tools read the national DEM as cloud-optimised GeoTIFFs straight from LINZ’s open nz-elevation data, so only the part of the dataset each request needs is ever read.
